BISHA Members,We have kicked off 2021 with amazing progress across several new and existing initiatives in BISHA, nevertheless we would like to update members on our current Covid position. Over the coming months we will be returning to rinks with many bookings in place for BISHA Hockey, these bookings cover The British Nationals, Team GB Camps, New Tournaments and not forgetting the u/19 European Championships at Bordon! We are presently working with clubs to devise a calendar to share with members with all the key dates. Any hockey events introduced this year will be overseen by our Head of Health &amp; Safety Officer to ensure compliance with current government regulations. To assist clubs and players return to hockey we have implemented a new ‘Back on Skates’ support session where members can be advised on all matters in relation to returning to hockey. Highlights for BISHA Q1 2021 include:Pete Winn – Launch of the Coaching Development Programme for both BISHA and the IISHF, the interest to date has been fantastic!Will Osborne – Very exciting to the see the pilot of the new Digital Officials and Timekeepers Training, this is long overdue and will enable us to swiftly educate and qualify officials which has been a sport bottleneck for some time. Post qualification we will have a process in place to cultivate new referees in alignment with IISHF direction.Paul Cooper – Excellent news on Paul’s certification to become a Clean Sport Advisor and driving forward the UK Anti-Doping agendaJudith Bousquet &amp; Nicole Grazier – Demonstrating great dedication with the forming our DBS process and initiating Data protection and Privacy policies.George Wagerfield – Enthusiastically sharing with us some of the highlights of the AGM (see link within Department Updates below) and hearing some recognition from IISHF members as we take BISHA forward into a new era.Tom Sexton – Witnessing an immediate impact on our Social Media channels and as a result our volume of impressions significantly increasing to a wider audience. We are all part of the roller sports community no matter what form of hockey played, and we would encourage all members to support the initiatives currently being formed. 2021 Q1 BISHA Board Update

We are delighted to share, the new BISHA re-brand and logo, with you, which was informally unveiled at our annual general meeting recently and has been a work in progress since the initial idea to refresh our sport’s branding. There has been some great work by the marketing team with a lot of creative discussion and a good few initial concepts. This was ultimately supported with professional input and design.We now feel we have a strong brand and logo which represents our sport and membership whilst also being striking and unique in comparison to other hockey organisation. The new branding is based upon a colourful Lion head which represents family and pride, a core value of BISHA and a unanimous key theme from the stakeholder survey feedback. It represents the professionalism and respect values which we have been working towards and it is clear the membership wants from us. This also captures the unique, fast, dynamic, skillful, tough sport through the bold and iconic font used. Finally the shield represents the proud history of the sport and our association.We feel this has the potential to be a real emblem of Skater Hockey that will resonate with our membership and mark the step change in our organisation. It is also timely with the coming of the new year (and season), the exciting venture of marketing and hosting the U19 European Championships and recent AGM success.

Team GB Coach Tom Dickinson said "As the head coach for the GB U19 team our main aim has always been to improve the players skill set and understanding of the game that we are fortunate to coach. I have for many years wanted to achieve this for our selected and future/prospective goalies but have recognised this is an area of the game that I have limited knowledge within. A goalie is a major part of any team at any level and with Chris’s appointment I believe we are showing a great step towards achieving our aim and show that we value this part of the game within our team. Chris comes in with a wealth of experience of playing and coaching across the many different forms of ice and inline hockey. He has already shown me a high level of commitment, knowledge and enthusiasm that proves he is the right candidate for the role. His input at training's and guidance of our young goalies will be vital to me and the BISHA GB U19 staff and squad. At training's goalies are now no longer a means to the end of a player drill – in upcoming training's they will have more emphasis placed on them and a goalie coach who will support and improve them. "Chris Orme said "When I heard that Tom, Scott and the team were looking for a goalie coach to be involved in the 19's GB set up, I jumped at the opportunity. I am very happy to have joined the coaching staff and am really looking forward to working with the goalies as we run up to the European Championships next year. BISHA Members,It has been another busy quarter for the BISHA Board and Sports Management Committee. The headline for this quarter is undoubtably the announcement of the IISHF u/19 European Championship coming back to our shores after a gap of over 16 years, we are extremely proud to have committed to this event and we hope many of you will support us making this a success to benefit British Roller Sports. We have been overwhelmed with offers of help already, a massive thank you to the IISHF and the BISHA members involved with forming the proposal. The other notable successes are the recruitment of 4 key individuals keen to take forward the new era for our sport. Over the previous three months we have recruited a new National TD, Head of Health &amp; Safety, Safeguarding Protection Officer and a new Team GB Men’s Assistant Coach. All new volunteers within this role are already making a significant impact. Despite the wave of positivity above we cannot overlook the current Covid crisis, we are doing what we can for our members to return to playing once again within safe environments. We are ensuring that our venues are aligned to the ever-changing government policy as the impact of the virus is being understood and contained. Barry James is certainly an ambassador for BISHA and his dedication to uniting the local community and inline hockey is very apparent upon social media streams. As a board we are very much aware that our sport has a rich history which evolved from the streets of London and other inner cities. The work Barry and the club are doing is attempting to grow that membership segment once again and provide BISHA with the diversity of cultures it was built upon in the 1980’s – well done Knightz!Stay Safe BISHA Members
