When speaking to Tom Dickinson today, he had nothing but praise for teams coming into the 17th John Spight memorial tournament, releasing players to be able to play for Team GB in preparation of this years European Championships
“As team GB U19s draw closer to Croatia, the final squad is beginning to take shape and will be announced very shortly. One important aspect of GB teams is building team chemistry and to achieve this the benefits of playing together consistently before international tournaments is key.
The Borehamwood Crusaders John Spight tournament is the ideal event to achieve some essential targets in preparation for Croatia 2016. As GB U19 Coach I would personally like to thank some of the club coaches for allowing their younger players to commit to Team GB U19s at this tournament. They showing their support for the BISHA GB academy and prioritising player development ahead of their club teams and I think this should be recognised and commended.
Furthermore a special mention to Havering Hawks who have allowed their eligible players including a Goalkeeper to play for the GB U19s at this tournament. As their team may be facing smaller numbers than usual please contact Tony Knock if you would like to guest for their team at this tournament.”
