Operations Manager

Published: February 27

It is with regret that we have to advise that after some consideration, Jay Blackburn has decided that due to personal commitments for this year, he is unable to take up the role of Operations Manager that he agreed to at the Bishahockey Ltd AGM in February.

He has let us know that he still passionately believes that having an Operations Manager is the right move for BISHA, but it needs more time and commitment than he is able to give it this year, and therefore it would be better if someone with more time for the role was appointed . He is still maintaining his job as Media and Marketing Officer, and will continue to support BISHA in every way.

London Kinightz U16 Euros review

Published: July 4

The London Knightz had been preparing for the under 16s European championships as soon as we found out we were going! All the kids worked extremely hard to make sure they were in good shape for when we got there. The opening ceremony went great with Knightz looking smart in their shirt and ties followed by a chilled evening ready for a big day the next day. The first game was against Rossemaison which was always going to be a tough game. We managed a score of 4-1 in favour to Rossemaison. The next game was against HC Mad dogs where we lost 4-2, the next game was against a strong Crefelder team which was always going to be a tough game which ended with a score of 11-1. The final game of the day was against Vikings which ended 0-9. After a tough day on the Saturday we faced the other GB team the Chippy Trixsters which was close throughout but they ended up with the win with a final score of 2-1. This meant we faced SHC Rolling Aventicum in the battle for 9th and 10th place. We lost 7-1 which meant we ended the tournament in 10th place.

Refresh your membership rules knowledge

Published: March 14

Just a short reminder that transfer rules are different for players and netminders, players can only transfer once in each half of the season, and netminders, though free to transfer more frequently, incur increasing costs with each transfer, ie £20 first one, £40 second one and so on.

Players should be aware that if they intend to leave a club or team, it is a good idea to put this in writing and make sure you have an acknowledgement from the club that they know your leaving date.  Clubs need to make their regional membership secretary aware of any player owing money and request a formal suspension until the debt is cleared.

BISHA AGM

Published: November 29

BISHA should have had an AGM by the end of November this year, but due to International and Nationals commitments etc, it hasn't been possible to arrange one in time. Furthermore, for the last four years at least, the AGM has been poorly attended and we did wonder whether the cost of holding a meeting with the BISHA Board outnumbering the attendees was no longer cost effective.

Crusaders and Chelmsford Crowned Champions

Published: November 13

This weekend saw the Peewee and Junior National Championships go to Market Drayton for the very first time in BISHA history, and it did not disappoint.

Day one was going to see one of the Junior teams crowned, with the current holders Chelmsford Hylanders looking to retain the title, however two teams lead the way in Crusader Kings and Chippy Trixters heading to the final, and a close game ensued with the Kings winning 2-1 over Chippy.

GB v Switzerland

We started day 3 being put into the top pool, pool c, to determine the Semi Final placings, and what a start to the day!

This game was excellent to watch and had both sets of supporters out of their seats on more than one occasion.

GB and the Swiss were out on the rink early to warm up and with two minutes left the British went back to the locker room and made the Swiss team wait for their arrival whilst they stood on the rink waiting for the ceremonial stick wave.

So day one of the U19 European Championships are finished for Team GB , and Day one was a good outing for the team.

They started the day against the Austrian team who were hitting the GB team well on the break, with the British controlling the game with a good maturity for a young team. The British team came back from 3 goals down to make it 4-3, only for the Austrians to equalise in the dying moments.
