GB v Switzerland
We started day 3 being put into the top pool, pool c, to determine the Semi Final placings, and what a start to the day!
This game was excellent to watch and had both sets of supporters out of their seats on more than one occasion.
GB and the Swiss were out on the rink early to warm up and with two minutes left the British went back to the locker room and made the Swiss team wait for their arrival whilst they stood on the rink waiting for the ceremonial stick wave.
It was however this Swiss that took the lead first, from a faceoff in the GB defensive zone. This however did not seem to faze the British and they kept their heads up and their game plan, as it has been all weekend, to hold possession and very soon made a chance in front of net that the Swiss goalie saved. The GB team went into the break holding the Swiss off as they had a minute or so with good and focused possession.
Into the second half and it was the same from the GB bench a very controlled game with and without the ball, and it was rewarded with a goal from Alex Pearman from Richard Walsh, making it 1-1.
The Swiss were not happy with this, and once again scored from a GB defensive zone faceoff, 2-1.
GB then went on the power play and with a great pass from Steve Dickinson (one of many), to Danny Hutchinson, they levelled the game at 2-2.
Not to be outdone Paul Tanner then went and put one in the net, but the Swiss responded quickly to make it 3-3 and that’s how the game finished.
It was another good performance from Team GB who are growing in stature as the tournament goes on, and at times the Swiss really stood off the GB team and let them do their thing, as when we are in from of goal, as with the Germans we are clinical.
Good result and come on GB.
